Rooster

Taking a break on this piece.  Well,  it's a study, because I want to add
more elements.  I discovered this rooster on an old Chinese scroll.  I
love the pose and have been trying to 'copy'  or reinterpret this rooster
in my own style.  I haven't quite thought out what I'm doing with him.
Just thought I'd share a partial composition.

What I find intriguing is that with a few seemingly simple lines one is able to depict not only an animal, but its movement and character.

I say seemingly because it takes skill to render something with a few lines.

Enjoyed your rooster.

Jafabrit said it perfectly. I love the attitude of this rooster, the graceful curve of his body--it's so alert, alive.

Thanks for the encouragement. Jafabrit's right, the real skill in this type of ink work is in knowing when to let go.

Bill_Thanks for letting me know Mineke's link isn't working--didn't work for me either; I'll try to fix it!
